GI/Pulmonary Endoscopy Centers

Northside's Gastroenterology (GI) and Pulmonary Endoscopy Centers offer a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of GI and pulmonary conditions.

Whether your procedure is a routine colon cancer screening or a procedure to diagnose and treat new GI or pulmonary symptoms, our team of gastroenterologists (physicians specializing in GI conditions), pulmonologists (physicians specializing in pulmonary conditions), nurses and techs are ready to collaborate with you and develop an individual plan of care. Other members of your interdisciplinary health care team, who work closely with the GI/Pulmonary Endoscopy Labs, may include anesthesiologists (doctors and anesthetists specializing in sedation and pain control), respiratory therapists, pharmacists, radiologists (doctors and technologists specializing in x-rays and special imaging like CT scans and MRIs), ostomy nurses, nutrition support and other hospital specialists.

COVID-19 Screening Process for Patients Scheduled for GI Lab Procedures

In an effort to protect you, your family, our healthcare workers and the community, Northside Hospital will now require a screening test for COVID-19 three days / 72 hours before your scheduled GI lab procedure.

Screening will be available at one of our drive-thru testing sites Monday – Friday: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. located close to each of our hospitals. Please go to the testing site designated for the facility where your procedure will take place.

Northside Recognized Nationally for GI Quality

Our team is focused on the individual needs of our patients. We are a leader in customer and physician satisfaction. An integral part of the discharge process is patient education, which begins upon your admission and is reassessed throughout your hospital stay. Our goal is to ensure that you and your family are knowledgeable about your condition and are confident and comfortable with your discharge instructions.

Many gastrointestinal (GI) and pulmonary conditions are able to be treated on an outpatient basis. Northside has GI services in a convenient outpatient setting in Atlanta, Alpharetta, Canton, and Cumming, at multiple hospital and outpatient surgery center locations.

However, occasionally patients will require hospitalization to manage their condition. We recognize this need and have dedicated GI units at each of our three hospitals in Atlanta, Cherokee and Forsyth to care for these special patients. Your health care team will work with you and your family to address your specific health care needs and prepare you for discharge.

Prior to your procedure

You have the option of completing some of your admission documents before you arrive for your GI/Pulmonary Endoscopy Lab procedure.
